“On Court with USPTA” is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. The episode “The Power of Story” features Jim Loehr, Ed.D., CEO of Human Performance Institute and a USPTA Master Professional. The episode offers insight into how to become the player that you want to be based on tips from his best-selling book titled “The Power of Story.” The show focuses on how storytelling plays a major role in a competitive tennis player’s life and how the stories they tell themselves and others affect the outcomes of their matches. You’ll also learn to deal with such factors as injuries, choking, cheating and losing. The show is also available on DVD and includes a 20-minute video on Loehr’s “Power of Total Engagement.”
“On Court” is a 20-minute instructional show featuring USPTA-certified professionals as guest instructors. The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, more than 46 shows have been produced that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game, such as fun and fitness. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting to shooting and editing to graphics and DVD duplication. Soon viewers, who receive the Tennis Channel via DirecTV, will be able to view new episodes in High-Definition.
