The USPTA National Women's Committee is now accepting applications for candidates for the Women's Committee Fund. The recipient of this fund will receive $474 toward expenses for the USPTA World Conference at the Marco Island Resort in Marco Island, Fla., Sept. 21-26, 2009.
The Women's Committee Fund was instituted at the USPTA Women's Open Meeting during the 2006 World Conference in Las Vegas. Women were discussing how it was hard to attend conventions, especially the World Conference, because of the expenses. A cup was passed around the room and money was raised for a USPTA woman member to attend a World Conference.
The recipient must be a P-1, P-2 or P-3 career tennis professional and be employed year-round either at a facility or her own business. She must be a member in good standing with the USPTA for the year 2009 and attend at least four days of the conference and not just play the National Championships. All candidates must have never attended a USPTA national conference before.
Please answer all questions on this form and include a typed essay of why you deserve this fund for 2009. Include your current job description and what you have accomplished during your USPTA career.
In return, the recipient attending the 2009 USPTA World Conference must attend the women's open meeting and shadow Molly Card Beckmann and Diane Selke for one-half day each in order to meet other conference attendees.
Only one person will win this award. This award is nontransferable. If the recipient cannot attend, the money will be rolled over to the 2010 USPTA World Conference.
The winner will be announced on July 30, 2009, via e-mail. USPTA members Molly Card Beckmann, USPTA National Women's Committee chair, Diane Selke, Paula Scheb, Trish Faulkner and Donna Yuritic will determine the recipient of this award.
Please e-mail the form to Diane Selke at selke10s@aol.com by July 15. Put USPTA women's committee award in the subject area.
If you would like to make a donation, write a check to USPTA Women's Committee and send to Diane Selke, Valley Country Club, 14601 Country Club Drive, Aurora, Colo., 80016.
