Tony Larson of Blaine, Minn., defended his men’s open title for the fourth year in a row at the $3,850 United States Professional Tennis Association Indoor Championships held April 19-21, at Life Time Fitness Fridley Club in Fridley, Minn., by defeating Avery Ticer of Minneapolis, 6-1, 6-4. He later went on to win the mixed open doubles title by teaming up with Marina McCollom of West Des Moines, Iowa. McCollom was also crowned women’s open champion by going undefeated in round robin play.
The tournament also included events in the following categories: men’s 35 singles, men’s 45 singles and doubles, men’s open doubles and women’s open doubles.
