USPTA show, “The Complete Two-Handed Backhand” premieres on the Tennis Channel

-- Show will air May 5 at noon Eastern time --

"On Court with USPTA" is the cable TV show produced by the United States Professional Tennis Association. In this episode USPTA Professional Mark Bey teaches viewers the components of the two-handed backhand.

In the episode, Bey shows viewers everything they need to know on the two-handed backhand from the ready position to recovery footwork. He demonstrates games and drills they can use to hone this skill. Whether you are having issues with your two-handed backhand or you just want to add this stroke to your arsenal, you will learn all you need to know in this show.

This show covers the following:

• All technical stages of the backhand (grips, ready position, unit turn, footwork, swing path, point of contact)

• Backhand games (Man in Motion, Defend the Fortress)

• Offensive and defensive backhands

• Return of serve

Bey attended DePaul University in 1989, studying political science and economics. As a nationally ranked junior and collegian, he played satellites and challengers from 1989 to 1991. He was seven-time coach of the year, including 2005 U.S. Olympic Committee Development Coach of the year. Bey is the founder/director of CARE Academy, one of the nation's leading after-school tennis academies and is also an assistant coach to the Bryan Brothers, the No. 1 doubles team in the world. He was selected by the USTA as head coach for the Regional Training Center in Libertyville and is a member of the Midwest Coaching Commission. He is an instruction and content contributor to Tennis magazine, and the founder and organizer of the National Junior Tennis Conference, the nation's only conference/training camp for high performance juniors and families.

The USPTA became the first tennis-teaching organization ever to produce and air an educational television series on playing and teaching tennis on the Tennis Channel in 2003. Since then, more than 78 shows have been produced that provide instruction about technique, strategy and other facets of the game. All production is done in-house, which includes everything from planning and scripting, to shooting and editing, to graphics and DVD duplication. All episodes of "On Court" are now in high-definition.

Don't miss out on this episode. Tune in to the Tennis Channel on Saturday, May 5, at noon Eastern time to see the show. Also, all episodes of "On Court with USPTA" and more than 100 other USPTA-produced DVD titles are available for purchase online at www.usprotennisshop.com.
